The story
International Harvester built the Farmall 1066 from 1971 to 1976 as a big six-cylinder diesel row-crop tractor. It followed the 966 and was later replaced by the 1466.
It sold extremely well, with more than 50,000 leaving the factory in six years, which makes it one of the best-known IH tractors of its time. Two main versions were offered.
Most were the turbocharged model, while the other used hydrostatic drive and gave up a good deal of power in return for its stepless control. Each type carried its own hood decal, so they are easy to tell apart.
