The story

The Oliver 60 was a row-crop tractor that the Oliver Farm Equipment Company introduced in 1940. It used a four-cylinder engine and followed the six-cylinder Oliver 70.

The 70 had been losing sales to cheaper rivals such as the Farmall A, the Allis-Chalmers Model B and the John Deere Model B, so Oliver brought out the smaller 60 to compete on price. The design carried on through the Oliver 66, Super 66 and 660, each a modest improvement, and the line lasted until 1964.

Did you knowOliver created the 60 because its larger six-cylinder 70 was being outsold by cheaper rivals.
