The story

The 9630 was John Deere's biggest tractor when it went on sale in 2007, and it ranks among the largest production tractors anywhere. It is an articulated machine that bends in the middle to steer, and it comes from the factory on eight tyres of the same size, with duals at both front and rear.

Power comes from a six-cylinder diesel of about 13.5 litres rated at 530 hp. In testing it delivered 427 hp at the drawbar.

With liquid in the tyres and extra weights fitted, it tips the scales at well over 25 short tons.

Did you knowWhen fully ballasted the 9630 weighs more than 54,000 lb, over 25 short tons.
