The story

The 5220 was a compact three-cylinder utility tractor that John Deere built between 2000 and 2004, aimed at both farms and larger rural properties. It took over from the 5210 and was almost the same machine underneath.

Buyers could choose two-wheel drive or mechanical front-wheel drive. The main changes were for the driver.

Alongside the usual open straddle-mount platform, Deere offered an optional isolated operator station, and the optional cab was better than the one on the earlier model. With a rear lift rated at 3,400 lb, it suited loader work, mowing and general yard jobs as well as light field work.

Did you knowIts small three-cylinder engine produced 140 lb-ft of torque at 2,400 rpm.
