The story

The Model 81 was a two-plough tractor that Massey-Harris built for smaller farms between 1941 and 1948. It took over from the General GG and was offered in both standard-tread and row-crop forms.

A twin model, the Model 82, was the version set up to run on kerosene, a fuel better known in Britain as tractor vaporising oil. The 81 shared a great deal with the Model 101 Junior, which had arrived in 1939.

From 1946 it was sold alongside the newer Model 20, and both left production in 1948. Massey-Harris later became part of Massey Ferguson.

Did you knowIts sister tractor, the Model 82, was the kerosene-burning version of the same design.
