The story
John Deere began taking orders for the X9 in August 2020, its first all-new combine platform in roughly two decades, with production machines working that autumn. The X9 1100 is the larger of two models.
Instead of a single big rotor it uses a dual separator with two 24 inch rotors fed across what Deere calls the widest body on the market, plus a 75 sq ft Dyna-Flo cleaning shoe. Deere claimed up to 45 per cent more harvesting capacity than its previous flagship, the S790, and up to 30 acres of high-yielding wheat an hour.
A new 13.6 litre engine supplies up to 690 hp, and buyers can choose wheels or rubber tracks.
