The story

Claas unveiled the Lexion 8900 in July 2019 as the head of a completely redesigned Lexion range, with first machines going to farms for the 2020 harvest. It kept the hybrid idea Claas had used since the 1990s: a wide APS threshing drum at the front, followed by twin rotors instead of straw walkers for separation.

The drum is 1.7 m wide and the two rotors are 4.2 m long. At launch its 790 hp MAN engine made it the most powerful combine Claas had built.

The Terra Trac track version could carry the largest 18,000 litre tank and a 13.8 m header, aimed at big arable farms in Europe, North America and the former Soviet states.

Did you knowAt full rate the 8900 can empty its largest 18,000 litre tank in about 100 seconds.
