The story
The 1210 took over from the 1200 Selectamatic in David Brown's 1971 range, the first line-up built around a 12-speed synchromesh gearbox. It used David Brown's own 3.6 litre four-cylinder diesel, and hydrostatic steering and a two-speed PTO were part of the package.
The twin-ratio Hydra-Shift was offered on the 1212 rather than the 1210, which kept the manual box. Four-wheel drive versions appeared from late 1973, the same period in which the American firm Case took control of the company.
From 1977 the 1210 gained the factory Sekura safety cab with a flat floor. The new 90 series took over from 1979.
