The story
The 700 Vario series began in 1998 as the first mid-size tractor line with Fendt's Vario continuously variable gearbox, and the 724 has long been one of its core models. The seventh generation, on sale since summer 2022, was a deep redesign.
Fendt dropped the Deutz engine used in earlier 700s and fitted the new 7.5-litre AGCO Power CORE75 six-cylinder, which makes its rated power at only 1,700 rpm. The old two-range gearbox gave way to VarioDrive, a single-range stepless drive with automatic control.
All 700 Varios are built at Marktoberdorf in Bavaria, where the 100,000th example of the series left the line in July 2024.
