The story
New Holland's T6 range covers the busy 120 to 180 hp class, and most models use a four-cylinder engine. The T6.180 is the exception at the top: it keeps a 6.7-litre FPT six-cylinder, a choice New Holland links back to the six-cylinder Ford 10 and 40 Series tractors built at the same plant.
At the 2016 update it came only with the Electro Command powershift, but the Dynamic Command dual-clutch gearbox and the Auto Command stepless transmission were added later. The six-cylinder gives more torque and much stronger engine braking than the four-cylinder models.
Like the larger T7, the T6 is built at Basildon in Essex, which made its two millionth tractor in 2024.
