The story
John Deere announced the 6250R in December 2016 as the new flagship of its 6R series, with deliveries from summer 2017. It used a twin-turbo 6.8-litre PowerTech six-cylinder in a stretched frame, with a wheelbase 100 mm longer than smaller 6Rs, so it could carry big implements while weighing about 9.3 tonnes.
A boost of up to 50 hp was available for transport and PTO work. When Deere separated range names from horsepower for model year 2022, the 6250R became the 6R 250.
It is built at Mannheim in Germany. In 2026 Deere revealed a 6R 260 using the same engine, gearbox and axles, due to reach farms in 2027.
