Caterpillar tractors.
Caterpillar was formed in 1925 by merging the Holt Manufacturing Company and the C. L. Best Tractor Company, building on Benjamin Holt's tracked tractors, for which he gained a continuous-track patent in 1907. It is known for crawler tractors and later for the rubber-tracked Challenger farm tractors. In 2002 it sold the Challenger business to AGCO, ending its farm venture, though Caterpillar itself continues.
