The story
The 1070 was one of Case's Agri King tractors of the 1970s, sold in the years when Tenneco owned the Racine company. Case advertised it as a Jet-Age tractor, and owners still call it close to indestructible.
Its 7.4 litre six-cylinder diesel ran at only 1,900 rpm, so it worked well below what the block could stand, and that gentle tune is often credited for its long life. Tests gave about 108 PTO hp and 91 drawbar hp.
Buyers could pick an eight-speed manual gearbox or a version with a three-speed powershift, and the same engine and drivetrain turned up in other Case models. More than 7,500 were built before production ended in 1978.
