The story
The 7810 topped John Deere's 7010 series, which replaced the 7000 range in 1996 alongside the 7610 and 7710. It kept the full-frame modular chassis first used on the 6000 and 7000 series in 1992, so the engine and gearbox carried no frame loads.
Under the bonnet sat a new 8.1 litre six-cylinder PowerTech turbo diesel, an engine also built for marine work at far higher outputs, rated at 175 hp. The TechCenter cab carried over, and the 7010 series introduced Triple Link front suspension.
Buyers chose PowrQuad or PowerShift at first, with AutoQuad II following in 2000 and the AutoPowr stepless gearbox in 2001. The 7820 replaced it, yet the 7810 remains highly prized in Ireland.
