The story
The Oliver 500 came out of a deal between Oliver and David Brown, made when Oliver wanted a small diesel utility tractor for its North American dealers. Rather than design one, Oliver took the David Brown 850 from the Meltham works near Huddersfield, painted it in Oliver green and white, and fitted an Oliver grille and badges.
Nebraska tested both the diesel and petrol versions in March 1960, and sales ran until 1963, when Oliver ended the arrangement. It cost less than Oliver's own American-built 550 and came with a differential lock as standard.
Only 1,648 were built, with diesels outnumbering petrol models, so survivors are scarce and spare parts are now hard to find in the United States.
No Oliver 500 listings yet. Dealers and private sellers will be able to list them here soon.
