International Harvester tractors.
International Harvester was formed in Chicago in 1902 when the McCormick and Deering harvester firms merged with three smaller makers, backed by J.P. Morgan. It introduced the Farmall row-crop tractor in 1924 and later built tractors in Britain at Doncaster and in Germany. Losses and a long strike in 1979 weakened the company, and in 1984 it sold its farm machinery business to Tenneco, owner of Case. The last IH tractor was built in May 1985, and the name lives on in Case IH.
